Living in Copenhagen #4 - Helsingør Day Trip

Do you love castles, cause this time we visit a famous castle on the north eastern side of Denmark called Helsingør.  It a less than an hour train ride from central Copenhagen station, and it would be best to get a 24hr public transport pass which set you back 130 DKK, as it will be costly to get there, as with anywhere in Denmark.

It isn't the biggest city in Denmark, but there are numerous landmarks, including a huge maritime museum and exhibition center right next to the Kronborg castle and something that isn't as well known....

A chrome statue of a man on a rock named Han, sculpted by the artist duo Elmgreen and Dragset. Apparently its meant to be the counter part of  world famous The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen.

I just love how the blues and greens show up from the 35mm cron, its crisp and dense with flavour.

Here we arrive at the castle, Kronborg. Where the world famous William Shakespear's play Hamlet was set. Every now and then they would be a performance of Hamlet at the center of the castle.

The four nuns that came to the castle for a visit too.

Here we have the castle's ball room, the largest and grandest room out of all. I really love how the lights and shadows cast onto the tiles, you can almost see the kings and queens dancing on it.

Once you climb a couple hundred of steps onto the watch tower, you get a really nice view of the city and harbor itself.

Actually, Helsingør is so close to the border of Sweden that you can just make out the buildings on the other side. So close that there is a special ferry that connects Helsingør from Denmark to Helsingborg in Sweden.

Here we is what we came for, the sleeping saviour of Denmark, Helger Danske. It is said if Denmark was to ever fall in crisis, the sleeping giant would awake and save Denmark from its evil.

Do you also like the cool the lens flare of the Cron? I think it gives the picture a little bit of character rather than a clinically sharp and crisp lens like the Zeiss.

This is one of my favorite shots, the crow on the cannon. Over looking Sweden actually, it as if the crow was keep of the castle standing high and mighty on its weapon.

Next, we still had a bit time before we needed to train back to Copenhagen, we decided to roam around the town center. I love the art in the city, they are scattered around everywhere.

You really shouldn't pass the town strip, it has got character and charm.

Soon it was time to go back, onto our train we go. Helsingør is a very nice getaway from the busy Copenhagen city center. Enjoy their castle and harbor. It is definitely a nice day trip if you were to come to Copenhagen.

I really do wish to upload more frequently, but uni work gets in the way of my editing routine, but I will try my best. I hoped you like the photos, please leave a comment or share to spread the joy. See you guys next time for more photography and travel.
