Box Hill Camera Sunday Market - 20/09/2015
Hi everyone, welcome to my blog. This time will be a visit to the twice a year Local Camera Market, but this is actually my every first time there as well. Do you guys have local second hand markets like this? Let me know if you do. Post a comment or message me. So, the local market is at the Box Hill Town Hall, in Melbourne. I was really excited to see what bargains I could find or just to see what antiques I could see.
There was a lot of cameras, cameras that I have never even heard of. Most of them are older than me, probably four times as old as me. The venue was packed with photographers, sellers and enthusiast that are so passionate about photography.
Many of them have a huge collection of cameras that they have collected all their lives. When you looked at the camera, you could see how much they had been through.
I also heard from one of the sellers, that they got one of their cameras from police auctions. It was once the camera of a prince in some country, but the prince was arrested and all possessions was taken by the police. Not sure about the details, but it sounds like a good story.
Everyone was very knowledgeable about photography, they could list out all the features and optimal settings for every camera they sold. That's how you know, they aren't just sellers, they are experts.
Apart from camera collections, many also sold photo albums from all over the world. You could almost see the change in photographic styles each decades of albums are.

In the end I didn't purchase anything, I guess nothing really caught my eye. I had a plan in mind, but none of them was met. There were a couple cases where I nearly took my wallet out, like for the Rolleiflex from above. It was in great conditions, but the price was way too high for me; shame.
It was a great day, it was the first time I have been to a camera market. I did see a lot bargains, but they weren't what I needed.
Thanks everyone for coming again, stay tune for the next CNC update, and more photography blogs.
