Living in Copenhagen #3
Welcome back to the part two of the crazy 72 hr time crunch to most of the major landmarks of Copenhagen. Let's just get right into it, we first start with the Rosenborg slot, or the Rosenborg castle. Built by the Christian IV, in the 1606. Even though this one is a lot smaller than the Christiansborg castle, we have to keep in mind this is much older as well. The major thing in the Rosenborg is the collection of the crown jewels and treasures that it houses. There are armed guards standing right in front of the treasure room entrance.
Just look at those gold and bling!!
Next we went to the Copenhagen Observatory, right in the centre of the city, this is also called The Round Tower. Where the view of the city is displayed all in its glory, would have been better if the sun showed it's face though.
Next stop was a little further out of the city centre, about an hour out of the city. The Frederiksborg castle, about 10 min walk from the Hillerød station. If you could make it from city, this one is must go. It is huge by itself and then next to it there situates a beautiful garden.
This is what a fountain should look like, grand and intricately done by skilled carvers.
We now arrived at the enormous ball room where they would hold dances and dinner for royalty.
I thought this was kinda interesting, it was globe device that would calculate and rotate the constellations drawings that would show in sky. But I didn't want a full photo of the device, cause then you would not be able to the intricate gears that makes this work.
I'm sure he also had a long day in the castle.....
After the nice walk inside the castle, it was definitely time to go to the garden.
For about 4 times an hour, there would be a small boat tour that goes around the lake that surrounds the castle. It will actually also stop by on the other side of the lake, so if you want you can stop by the town or wait until it comes back around. It is a great way to see the enormity of the castle itself.
Thanks for coming again, please share or comment. Please look forward to the next blog.
