Grampians Road Trip - 27/03/2015 to 29/03/2015

This road trip was decided just two weeks back over a dinner, it was an both inexperienced and unprepared trip, but neither the less it was a trip that we would never forget. We had first chose our destination to be Mt Bogong, the highest mountain range in Victoria, but we soon found out that this was not the best idea in the last week of deciding, as none of us has actually hiked or camped in the isolated environment, and we would probably die in the alpines or end up on the news being the four uni male students that was stranded on the mountain. The so the closer option of the Grampians mountain was chosen, it was much cheaper and safer, as it was operated by mountain rangers. You had to first book a camp site around the Grampians online with ranged between AUD$25 to AUD$75, which was all reasonable for the four of us for two nights. But in the end we only end up staying in there for one nights.

Right after Uni, we left Melbourne to the Grampians, trying to beat the traffic, but ended being right into the traffic jam. The trip was about a 4 hours driver from the east side of Melbourne where lived. By the time we got there it was already 12 o'clock mid night.

The next morning, we drive directly to the Grampians pinnacle to look at the views, we pretty much decided on a mountain as we drove around and saw which one was the highest one that we could go. We had first decided on MT victory, but soon we found out that we had to hike up there, so we changed to the second highest one, lol; and so the Boroka Lookout was decided.

I though the sign was pretty funny, there was the Mt Difficult Road, I wonder if there was a Mt Easy road or Mt Medium Road. lol

After 20 min of driving up the mountain we arrived at the pinnacle, stunning view!! YES IT WAS!!

Pretty brave.

Testing the limit of my Zeiss still, and I'm loving it.

The consequence of driving into a salt lake.

We were stuck there for couple of hours, so we decided to cook dinner while we waited for RACV for help.

The car got pulled out in a flash, asked the RACV person how often does these things happen; apparently he has encountered hundreds of them already. So we were also one of those stupid ones that got ourselves stuck in the salt.

After we got out, it was already near 10pm, after some researching we found out that the pink lake was actually just abit further ahead along the main roads, not the one we took! But it was pitch black, and scary, we head off to the nearby town to stay a night.

In the nearby town called "Sea Lake", we found a "hotel" called "The Royal Hotel". After talking to the hotel manager, we also found out that a ghost by the name of Mrs Weederman has been seen roaming around room 7, while shockingly we stayed in room 6. But luckily when we had a look, the even and odd numbers room are split upon two hall ways.

This side was where Mrs Weederman's room is located

And here is where we had stayed, in room 6.

The next morning, we had a chance to look around the town and find ourselves some breakfast before getting onto the road to Melbourne again.

Made in china even in an isolated town like Sea Lake.

We found a cool and busy little shop and had our breakfast.

I always start my day off with a good old latte when given the chance.

My friend ordered a delicious chicken parma sandwhich.

While I got myself some eggs and bacon.

We did really know what the hotel looked like at night, so got the chance to see the over hundreds years old hotel haunted by Mrs Weederman.

The nearby park was pretty quiet too, even it was already 11 am.

And so the trip ended with a satisfying breakfast in a small town called Sea Lake.
