Day Two - Going to Akihabara
AKIHABARA - WHERE CULTURE GOES EXTREME
You can get to Akihabara from Shinagawa taking the Yamanote Line of JR in about 15 min. On the train you could start to see Anime start to emerge more and more.
Until finally arriving to an sudden explosion of Anime and Manga, even in the morning it was already full of people and tourists.
You will find everything will have an anime girl next to it or on it. First store I went to was Hobby Tengoku, it has everything from anime figurines to radio controlled vehicles; and even BB guns and paint ball equipment.
There are so many vending machines in Japan, even their trading card games has its own vending machines.
After walking a few blocks, I saw this disturbing poster of "I don't know and I don't want to find out", honestly trust Japan to come up with these stuffs.
Right in the center of Akiba, the main street is call Electric Shop Street, where all the main shops are located.
There are a lot of small shrines like these located all over Japan, not sure if they are perform as the main shrines for ceremonial purposes or just small religious symbols, neither the less they are really cool. Just like the small version of the big ones.
There are alot of shop that has billions of colours and poster right in front of them to catch walker's attentions. Even though they are small inside, they pack everything, you could find every games from every consoles and all the recent DVDs and antique DVDs and CDs.
Stopping for a break eating some of my favourites, TAKOYAKI!!! They tastes so much better than Melbourn's!!
Walking towards Yodobashi Shopping center, stumbled upon the coolest cafe, GUNAM CAFE!! Have always wanted to go once. But we skipped it for the major shopping centre.
Couldn't photograph inside, but they honestly sell everything!!!!! From cheap stationaries to expensive watches and cameras such as Rolex's and Leica Camera. Was not not expected to see any of these in a technology center.
After shopping for couple hours, we decided to stop by the GUNDAM CAFE to have a rest before dinner. We are greeted with a statue of RX-78
"You drink and how do?" what does that even suppose to mean!
The Gundam Cafe is famous for their Character drinks and Foods that looks Gundams, but since it was before dinner, I only got a drink. They are quite unique since they range from soft drink to even alcoholic mixers.
Since there was still time out, we decided to take the train to Tokyo. Tokyo is incredibly busy and packed with people, all rushing and hurrying to somewhere.
After trying to walk out of the station, we stumbled upon a O-bento shop, selling on-the-go lunch boxes that don't taste like cardboard (AKA Sandwiches). They are all rice dishes.
The selection was huge, you can see what's in on the wall, and there are even seasonal and eventual specialties.
Picked up a Clam O-bento, a snack before dinner.
Presentations are nice and quality of food is fresh, since they are made on the day. Which makes them quite special.
Today was quite a busy day, of excitement and more excitement. There are just so much to see and do, you will always find something special around the corner. Tomorrow we are going on a tour to Mt.Fuji and Hakone for some site seeing.
